Washington and Lee first-year forward Rebecca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central) garnered the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball for the week ending January 11.
Bolton's weekly ODAC honor marks the second-straight week that a W&L women's basketball player has claimed the award. First-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) earned the accolade for her performances on Dec. 29-Jan. 4.
Bolton led the Generals to a 2-1 week. On Tuesday, W&L fell to Virginia Wesleyan, 64-49, but rebounded with an impressive 94-77 victory over Lynchburg on Friday. W&L then capped the week's play with a 75-58 triumph over Randolph on Saturday.
In the loss to VWC, Bolton recorded 10 points and grabbed four boards, before registering her second double-double of the season with a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 10-of-15 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the foul line against LC. She wrapped the week up with a 10-point and five rebound performance in the win over Randolph.
On the season, Bolton is second on the team in scoring (12.7 points per game), third in rebounding (6.3 rebounds per contest) and tied for second in steals (1.7 steals per outing).
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 pm game.
