Within the last 24 hours we have received reports of faculty and staff receiving viruses by clicking on links in posts in Facebook or e-mails sent from Facebook profiles. The link leads to a Web site that prompts you to download software that appears to be legitimate but is actually a virus. Once you connect to Facebook, the now-infected computer sends the viral e-mail to all of your friends.
Use caution; do not click on links to pictures or websites in e-mail sent from Facebook or similar social networking sites. If you have questions, or suspect that you have infected your computer with this virus, contact the ITS Information Desk at 458-4357.
