Rick Warner is in his second year as an assistant coach for the W&L golf team.
Werner's first season resulted in the Generals winning their first ODAC title since 1999 and producing their first trip to the NCAA Championships since 1991.
Werner has been a Class "A" member of the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) since 1976 and, most recently, he served as the Director of Golf Operations at the Royal Poinciana Golf Club in Naples, Fla., from 1980-2003.
Werner also served as the head golf professional at the Country Club of Ashland (Ohio) from 1978-80, was a teaching professional at the Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y. (1975-77) and Marco Island Country Club in Marco Island, Fla. (1976-77) and he was an assistant golf professional at John's Island Club in Vero Beach, Fla., from 1974-75.
Werner was an All-America golfer at the University of South Dakota, where he earned a bachelor of science in history in 1973. He finished in the Top 10 at the 1984 National Club Pro Championship and he was a participant in the 1983 and 1985 PGA Championship events.
Werner and his wife Candy reside in Lexington.
