Emily FitzHugh is in her first year as assistant athletic trainer at Washington and Lee.
FitzHugh came to W&L after serving as an intern athletic trainer at the College of Charleston for the 2007-08 school year. In this role, she worked primarily with the men's soccer, baseball and women's tennis teams and helped supervise undergraduate athletic training students as a clinical instructor.
FitzHugh also served as an athletic training student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned a master of science degree in Exercise and Sport Science in 2007. FitzHigh worked with UNCG's men's soccer, men's basketball, volleyball and softball teams and she served as the lead athletic training student for the Northwest Guilford High School football team.
FitzHugh is a 2004 graduate of Duke University, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She is an NATA-BOC certified athletic trainer and is certified in first aid and CPR by the American Red Cross. She is also a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association.
FitzHugh also has family ties to Washington and Lee. Her father, Grayson, is a 1972 W&L graduate and her uncle, Mayo McGill FitzHugh, III, graduated in 1969. Both played baseball for the Generals.
