W&L Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Guilford, 18-2

LEXINGTON, Va. - The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team had 12 different players score a goal and claimed its first double-digit win season since 2004 with an 18-2 win over Guilford on Wednesday evening at Wilson Field.

The Generals improved to 10-1 on the season and 2-0 in the ODAC with the win, while Guilford fell to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

W&L forced 40 Quakers turnovers and held a 62-16 advantage in shots as the Generals improved to 21-0 all-time against Guilford.

Sophomore attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) and sophomore midfielder Mark Wachtmeister (Wellesley, Mass./Belmont Hill) led the Generals with two goals and two assists each, while senior midfielders Tim Skeen (Baltimore, Md./Towson) and Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) and junior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) logged two goals and one assist apiece. First-year attackman Scott Meehan (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Manlius-Pebble Hill) chipped in one goal and two assists.

Senior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) played the first half in goal and made three saves. Junior Matt Mason (Gladwyne, Pa./St. Mark's) and sophomores Ned Lundvall (Richmond, Va./Gilman) and Jason Lumpkin (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) all split the final 30 minutes between the pipes and combined for four stops. Junior defenseman Tyler Smith (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) forced a team-best four turnovers and picked up four ground balls.

For Guilford, senior midfielder Manny Sargeant (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) and first-year midfielder Greg Nash (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) both scored one goal. First-year Ryan Walsh (Abington, Mass./Abington) played the first 45 minutes in goal and stopped 13 shots, while sophomore Mark Guillen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) played the final 15 minutes and stopped four shots.

Washington and Lee will now break for finals before returning to action on April 11, when it hosts Randolph-Macon for a 5:00 pm contest.
