Cruising the Rhine and Moselle Rivers

May 1 - 15 or June 26 - July 10, 2010

The enthusiastic response to our tours of European waterways has convinced us that our travelers enjoy river voyages on deluxe vessels. How could we think otherwise? After all, river cruising combines many of the most appealing features of travel: a comfortable hotel, but one that glides effortlessly from one remarkable place to another; convenient access to the heart of the cities and towns along the way; consistent, attentive service and amenities, without the bother of checking in and out, unpacking and re-packing. And, it must be said, the scenery is always changing.

With that in mind, we're returning to the rivers of Europe, this time to two of our favorite rivers, the Rhine and Moselle. We'll enjoy not only the beautiful scenery of the Low Countries and the Moselle River Valley but also the many historic centers of European culture to which the Rhine and Moselle provide easy access. Among the highlights of our 14-night river cruise will be the grand cities of Amsterdam, Cologne, Trier, Luxembourg and Strasbourg. But, as we wend our way along the fascinating maze of waterways through Holland and Germany, we'll also visit such ancient towns as Delft, Mainz and Heidelberg,
renowned for their art, architecture and centers of learning. Highlights of our tour also include excursions to Dordrecht, Arnhem, the wine regions of Moselle and Alsace and the Black Forest. For the independent-minded traveler, the cruise itinerary includes ample opportunities for individual explorations.

Our home for the 14-night voyage will be the Avalon Affinity, the beautifully appointed, graciously staffed four-star river cruiser, the newest and most sophisticated of the ships now plying the waters of the Rhine and Moselle. Most cabins feature sliding glass doors, queen-size beds, and 172-square feet of living space. Like all W&L river trips, Cruising the Rhine and Moselle Rivers will include an onboard lecture program. Politics professor Wayne Thompson will represent W&L.
