Through our enlightening and luxurious around-the-world expeditions, W&L travelers have gained a rare insight into the world’s astonishing diversity, traveling on a specially outfitted private jet to the earth’s distant horizons—with the very best in accommodations and personal attention throughout. In Lands of the Great Buddha, the focus is sharper. We invite you to join us for a sublime journey across Asia, exploring the cultural treasures of one of the world’s great religions, again via the many conveniences of a private jet.

Our objective is a better understanding and appreciation of Buddhism and Buddhist culture. Over the course of 2,500 years, the peaceful teachings of the Great Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, spread throughout Asia, where a myriad of unique cultures blossomed and flourished under Buddhism’s benign influence. The profusion of Buddhist art, architecture, and colorful traditions lives on in these beautiful lands, offering sophisticated travelers a truly fascinating legacy to explore.

Our 21-day journey takes us from the antique grandeur of Angkor Wat to the Buddhist epicenter Bodh Gaya; from Vietnam’s Imperial City of Hué to the other-worldly Himalayan citadels of Bhutan and Nepal; from the legendary lands of the Mongolian nomads to the Emperor Qin’s terracotta army in China; and from the glittering temples of Laos to the refined perfection of Japan’s Zen traditions. This expedition also offers travelers the opportunity to join an optional pre-tour extension to the former imperial capital of China, and to the rooftop of the world—Lhasa, Tibet—to see the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama.

Your experience of these enchanting lands is enhanced by our unique approach to travel. We’ll enjoy the comfort and convenience of a VIP-configured Fokker 100 private jet, which whisks us in style from one destination to the next. We’ll gain insights into many cultures through the enlightened leadership of an internationally recognized curator of Asian arts, Barry Till. We’ll relax in the expert care and guidance of a top-notch expedition staff, including a dedicated physician. Our itinerary features luxurious boutique accommodations, including the incomparable Amankora Paro in Bhutan, several lavish banquets and a variety of traditional entertainments.
