Current Research: Professor DeLaney is presently writing the story of school desegregation in four western Virginia counties. In 2004, the 50th Anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision stimulated an oral history project involving extensive interviews with former public school students, teachers, and administrators, facilitated by undergraduate student assistants. More recently, Professor DeLaney is examining manuscripts, newspapers, school board minutes, and the governors' papers at the Library of Virginia.
