The Washington and Lee women's cross country team has climbed to No. 25 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National poll.

The Generals also jumped to No. 1 in the South/Southeast Region rankings, while the Washington and Lee men are eighth in the latest regional rankings. The women's national ranking is also the highest ever attained by the W&L women's cross country program.

W&L is coming off a ninth-place finish out of 35 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. Additionally, senior Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) was named the ODAC Runner of the Week after placing ninth overall out of 485 runners with a time of 23:07.

Both the W&L men's and women's teams will be in action this Saturday at separate meets. The women will participate in the Virginia State Championships held at the Peak View Farms in Harrisonburg, Va. The men travel to Hanover, Ind., to participate in the Hanover College Invitational.
