Computational Biology/Bioinformatics

Washington & Lee University announces an opening in computational biology/bioinformatics at the ASSISTANT or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR level in the Department of Biology. This position is part of a University and Howard Hughes Medical Institute funded initiative to provide leadership to strengthen teaching and research in the application of computational biology/bioinformatics to various areas of biological sciences, and to increase interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving. Area of expertise is open, but we encourage applicants with interests in computational or mathematical modeling of biological systems, or the use of quantitative strategies for integrating biological information. In addition, applicants whose area of expertise crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will teach courses in computational biology and/or bioinformatics and in her/his area of specialization. She/he will also be expected to establish an independent research program in which undergraduate students are actively involved. Post-doctoral experience and a record of teaching and research accomplishments in computational biology or bioinformatics are required.
