Senior Running Back Totaled 311 Yards and Three Touchdowns Against SVU

SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior running back Stuart Sitterson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21.

Sitterson garnered the award following his performance in the Generals' 35-28 victory over Southern Virginia on Saturday evening. He rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries, caught two passes for 20 yards and compiled 122 yards and one touchdown on kick returns.

Sitterson scored the game's final two touchdowns in the last 5:57 of the game after Southern Virginia had taken a 28-21 lead. The first came on a 94-yard kickoff return and the second occurred on a 31-yard touchdown run with 1:10 left in the game. All told, Sitterson notched 311 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in the win.

For the season, Sitterson has rushed 71 times for 296 yards and four touchdowns, has caught three passes for 44 yards and is averaging 31.9 yards per kickoff return and 10.4 yards per punt return. His 215.7 all-purpose yards per game also rank among the national leaders in Division III.

For his career, Sitterson ranks third all-time at W&L in all-purpose yards (4,532), kickoff return yards (1,444) and punt return yards (727). He also ranks ninth in career rushing yards (1,579) and is tied for ninth in scoring (150 pts.). His three career kickoff return touchdowns are tied for the all-time record with former teammate Colton Ward '07.

Washington and Lee (2-1) returns to action on Saturday as it plays Averett University at Salem Stadium in Salem, Va. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 pm.
