Current Research: Professor Schnepper is currently at work on two interrelated projects. The first is her book manuscript, Preachers, Polemicists, and Print: Transatlantic Religious Experiences and the English Revolution, which is the first study to fully integrate the broader Atlantic community of godly into the history of the English Revolution, complicating the traditional narrative of English colonial expansion and redefining the practice and theory of Atlantic history. Growing out of this project is an article-length investigation into the English Puritan communities in the Netherlands in the 1620s and 1630s. Reconstructing the Dutch world of early seventeenth century Puritanism involves situating it within the broader world of early Stuart English Puritanism in both England and New England. While historians of both English Puritanism and American Puritanism have united their long separate historiographical fields, presenting a more complete picture of an Anglo-Atlantic Puritanism, they have yet to consider Anglo-Dutch Puritanism, which itself remains an underexplored subject.
