Required Group Fitness Forms

Group Fitness Email List Instructions

  • Choose "Subscribe to a List" next to "Select a Function" and click "Submit Request"
  • Enter your email address and select "fitnessclasses" as the list, and click "Submit Request"
  • You will then get an email from Majordomo@wlu.edu asking you to authenticate the request.
  • Just follow the directions on that email to finish subscribing.

Class Descriptions

  • Sports Circuit: Combines all elements of group fitness- athletic training, cardio work on the step and/or kickboxing drills, stretching, free weights and sports drills-all combined to give you a total body workout. (Instructor: Rob Benevento, )
  • Hip Hop: Fun excersie waits for you at this weekday class. (Instructor: Lee Neilson)
  • Power Yoga: A rigorous, come as you are class. It is an appealing free form, flowing and "hot" yoga. (Instructor: Don Burks)
  • Employee Fitness: A long running employee class featuring a variety of programs- free weights, cardio, step, etc. (Instructor: Patti Colliton)
  • Yoga Workshop: A great way to learn yoga, get up to speed or just find out what yoga is!. (Instructor: Don Burks)
  • Ashtanga Yoga:  Come learn and practice the primary series of Ashtanga yoga, a flowing, "hot" yoga, that will work both strength and flexibility, while still giving an aerobic workout. (Instructor: Don Burks)
  • Kickboxing: This one hour class format follows traditional boxing and kickboxing techniques. Options are always given for more basic approach while giving the expert permission to LET IT GO!  (Instructor: TBA)
  • Pilates: Consists of a series of mat exercises that focus on core strengthening with the idea that intense abdominal work will aid in a more fluid and ease of movement. Pilates is a great way to strengthen the whole body, increase flexibility and improve posture. (Instructor: Anne Lemon and Jessie Knadler )
  • Step Class: A basic, entry level step class, diverse enough for all fitness levels. No complexity, but just what you need to feel at home in group fitness. (Instructor: TBA
  • Group Cycling: Popular indoor cycling class (Instuctors: Jeff Shay, Rob Benevento and Elliott O'Brien)

Location

Fitness classes are held in the Dance Studio located on the 300 level in the Doremus Gym and Group Cycling classes are held on upper back Mezzanine level of Warner Center.

Fees

The cost for the Group Fitness Class Program begins with our summer session and ends the following spring term.  The fees are not refundable nor pro-rated:

  • Students: $150 per academic year or $75 per term
  • Employees: $50 year
  • Family Member/Spouse of Employee: $100 year

Individual class sessions are $5 each expected to be paid directly to the instructor either before or after class.

Fees are collected at the beginning of each school year at the Student Activities Fair or at the Campus Recreation office. You may either pay cash, check or charge the fee to your student account. Email fitness@wlu.edu with your student account to register for these classes.
