The closest bus station near Dulles Airport (IAD) next to Washington, DC is Springfield, VA or on the north side of Union Station in Washington, D.C. The two closest stations to Lexington are in Roanoke, VA (one hour away) and Charlottesville, VA (1 hour 15 minutes away). Please do not try to take a bus to Lexington, VA if you are arriving for the first time.

CHINATOWN BUS:
This bus service runs to and from New York City. It picks up people at 120 East Broadway, Chiinatown, N.Y. at 7:30 P.M. everyday except Friday. It drops people off at a gas station near Exit 191 on Interstate 81. On the way back north it picks up people from Walmart at 2 A.M. It costs $80 one way. Anyone can ride the bus. Although the driver only speaks Chinese, if you know where you want to get off he may stop for you along the way.

NYC SHUTTLE:
A little more formalized than the Chinatown bus, this shuttle service travels from NYC to Charlottesville with very few stops in between. They have trips going to NY every two days, and trips returning every alternating day, except on Sunday when there are trips both ways. There is a full schedule available on their website.
