Sydney Brooks

Regional Director of Development- West and Midwest

Sydney joined the major gifts staff in October 2009 after serving as W&L's Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations where she developed grant proposals and assisted faculty with their research funding pursuits. Sydney holds a bachelor's degree in English from Georgetown University and a master's degree in Education Policy from Columbia University's Teachers College.

Before moving to Lexington, Sydney worked as an education fundraising professional in New York City. Most recently, she served as a development officer for The After-School Corporation (TASC), the first nonprofit organization in the nation to build a citywide K-12 after-school system. Sydney was first introduced to development as an undergrad at Georgetown where she served as a student volunteer for the phone-a-thon. "It was then that I realized how much we benefited from the generosity of those before us, and I came to understand how important the support of alumni, parents, and friends was to the University."

Sydney is responsible for building relationships with alumni, parents, and friends in the West and Midwest, and helping them accomplish their philanthropic goals by supporting Washington and Lee. "I am honored to be a part of the development group at W&L. We have the privilege of working with the most amazing alumni and helping to ensure the traditions of honor, integrity, and civility are carried for generations to come."
