
LYTNCHBURG, Va. -- The W&L women’s tennis team followed up its six wins in the singles portion of the ODAC Individual Championship by winning all four flights in the doubles portion of the event on Sunday afternoon.
W&L’s top team of senior Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) and first-year Ann Morris (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) won their semifinal match by default before defeating the top team from Hollins, 8-1, in the finals.
In the second flight the tandem of first-years Trelsie Sadler (Wakefield, R.I./Groton School) and Lauren Lukas (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) advanced to the finals after defeating Bridgewater, 8-1. In the finals the W&L duo knocked off Hollins 8-2.
The third flight featured first-years Jen Snyder (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) and Laura Pattillo (Atlanta, Ga./Marist) as they saw their first action of the tournament in the semifinal round after advancing to it due to a defualt. They advanced to the finals on the strength of a 8-0 win over Hollins, and then defeated Emory & Henry by the same score in the finals.
Finally, in the fourth flight the pairing of first years Sarah Offut (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) and Chloe Bellomy (Beaufort, S.C./Beaufort) defeated Emory & Henry, 8-0, in the finals after advancing to the semis the previous day.
Of the possible 11 combined flights (7 singles and 4 doubles), W&L won every one but the seventh singles flight, where the Generals did not have a competitor.
Washington and Lee is done as a team for the fall. However, the doubles pairing of Tabb and junior Lauren Caire (Nashville, Tenn/Harpeth Hall) will travel to Mobile, Alabama to take part in the ITA Small College Championships beginning on Thursday.
