
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Coming off a win at the McDaniel Invitational last week, the W&L golf team shot a first-round 323 and currently sits in 10th place following day one of the Tom O’Briant Invitational being held at the Cardinal Golf and Country Club.
Methodist currently leads the way with a team score of 299, while host Guilford is in second with a 302, followed by Oglethorope and Rhodes, each with 305.
Junior Robert Womble’s (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) opening-round 74 was the low score for the Generals and has him in fourth-place overall, just three shots off the pace.
Other scores for W&L include junior Matt Langan (Prospect, Ky./Trinity) with a 79, senior Andrew Green (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) carded an 84, junior Joe Gibson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) with an 85 and sophomore Rand Potter (Old Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) with a round of 90.
W&L returns to action on Tuesday with the final round of the tournament.
