Information for Agency Partners

The Shepherd Internship Program (SIP) partners with organizations working to mitigate or eliminate the cycle of poverty in all facets of society:  economic development, education, environment issues facing the poor, food insecurity, healthcare,  homelessness, housing, legal services, social services, youth outreach and more.

The Shepherd Internship Program delivers:

  • Intelligent, motivated, vetted undergraduate or law school students interested in poverty issues
  • Interns who work full time (35-40 hour per week)
  • Interns who work about 8 weeks during June and July
  • Interns who are virtually free of cost to the organization*

The agency partner delivers:

  • A meaningful, hands-on experience to the intern
  • Work with the service recipients (clients and the community at large)
  • Significant and challenging work for the intern
  • Well-designed, strong mentorship
  • A completed assessment of the program at the end of the summer
  • An opportunity of a lifetime for our interns to learn about your organization

*Agencies are expected to reimburse interns for on-the-job mileage and may be asked to provide guidance on housing opportunities in the community.
