HR Announces New Organization

Human Resources is pleased to announced its new organization designed to fully support the needs of the University and carry out the initiatives that are underway, including the work/life initiative that will be announced this fall.

The new HR organization chart includes a restructuring of several existing positions and adds two new positions.

The first new position is assistant director for work/life initiatives. This person will work with members of the campus community to find innovative ways to develop and promote a culture that supports a work/life balance. The responsibilities will include understanding the needs and concerns of the University and its employees regarding such matters as child care, elder care, flexible scheduling, wellness and employee recognition.

The second new position, assistant director for staffing and compensation, will assist departments with recruitment and selection and handle all staff classification and compensation programs.

Kim Austin's new title will be assistant director for operations. She will assume responsibility for day-to-day operations of the office and will handle benefits issues for active employees. Deborah Stoner, assistant director for benefit plan design and post-retirement counseling, will be responsible for retiree benefits and will assist the executive director with benefit plan design. Sherry Wright, assistant director for workforce development, will be responsible for performance management, career development, training and leadership development. Kim, Sherry and the two new hires will all handle employee relations and will provide HR consulting to employees and supervisors.

Wanda Scott has been promoted to office manager. She will provide all administrative and technological support to the department and will oversee the work of the data specialist and the receptionist/office assistant, Linda Brantley. Linda will provide general reception duties and will continue to assist applicants and employees who visit or call the office.
