The Washington and Lee volleyball team recently received the GamePlan/AVCA Team Academic Award as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

The Generals were one of 53 Division III schools and 303 high school and collegiate teams to receive the award for having a team grade-point average of 3.30 or higher for the 2006-07 school year. This marked the second-straight year that W&L has received the award.

Washington and Lee completed the 2006 season with a 29-8 overall record, won its sixth-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth-consecutive season. The Generals advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament and extended their ODAC regular-season win streak to 62-straight matches.

The Generals return five starters for the 2007 season, which kicks off by hosting the W&L Invitational on Sept. 7-8 at the Warner Center. W&L currently enjoys a 25-match home court winning streak.
