Washington and Lee University garnered the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) weekly honor in men's and women's tennis and baseball for the week ending March 2.
Senior Tim Ross (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) earned the player of the week award for men's tennis, while junior Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) garnered the honor for women's tennis. Junior centerfielder Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) also received the award for baseball.
Ross led the Generals to a 2-0 week by going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles. He notched a 6-0, 6-3 singles win over Devin Crosby of Virginia Wesleyan and teamed with Jamie McCardell to post an 8-3 win over VWC’s Tim Sanford and Crosby at No. 1 doubles. He then posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Emory & Henry’s Dan Mansmann and teamed with Stuart Sanford to defeat Mansmann and Ben Blevins at No. 1 doubles. For the season, Ross is 4-1 in singles and 2-3 in doubles.
Tabb went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles in a 3-0 week for the Generals. She posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bridgewater's Hilary Teeter at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Lauren Caire for an 8-4 win over Jessica Hill and Marlena Pipkin at No. 1 doubles. Also had a 6-0, 6-0 win over VWC's Imee Bautista and teamed with Leah Weston for an 8-0 win over Bautista and Megan Crook at No. 1 doubles. For the season, Tabb is 11-1 in singles and 6-2 in doubles.
McKelvey posted a 1.438 slugging percentage in a 4-0 weekend. He racked up nine hits, including two doubles, three triples and two homeruns as the Generals swept both Emory & Henry and Southern Vermont. McKelvey missed the cycle by a single in a 18-0 win over the Wasps, as he registered three hits in five at-bats with a double, a triple, a homerun and one RBI. For the season, McKelvey is batting .405 with three doubles, four triples three homeruns and 13 RBI.
