Washington and Lee University garnered the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) weekly honor in women's tennis and women's lacrosse for the week ending April 20.
Junior Meg Spalitta (New Orleans, La./Academy of the Sacred Heart) earned the honor for women's tennis, while junior midfielder Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) received the award for women's lacrosse.
Spalitta helped the Generals to a 3-0 week. She gave the top-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team the match-deciding win at No. 6 singles in a 5-4 victory over fourth-ranked Emory on Wednesday. She also won No. 6 singles in a 9-0 win over No. 19 Sewanee on Thursday and at No. 5 singles in a 7-2 win over No. 21 Johns Hopkins on Sunday. For the season, Spalitta is 19-1 in singles play and 8-1 in doubles action.
Robinson notched four goals and six assists in a 2-1 week. In a 14-1 win over Lynchburg on Tuesday, she tallied one goal and dished out three assists, and in an 18-6 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Friday, she tallied one goal and one assist. Robinson also registered two goals and two assists in a 12-8 loss to second-ranked The College of New Jersey on Saturday. For the season, she has 48 points on 22 goals and 26 assists.
The Generals women's tennis team ended their regular-season with a perfect 21-0 overall record and a 10-0 mark in the ODAC. W&L will look to win its sixth-straight conference championship this weekend in the 2008 ODAC Championship hosted by Sweet Briar College on Apr. 25-27.
The sixth-ranked W&L women's lacrosse team concluded the regular-season with a 15-2 overall record and a flawless 8-0 mark in the ODAC. The Generals will host the semifinals and finals of the 2008 ODAC Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
