NEW ORLEANS, La. • May 21, 2008

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the 2008 men's and women's Division III outdoor track and field regional award winners and Washington and Lee junior Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter) garnered the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Field Athlete Of The Year award.

The 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, Doornbos won the high jump (5’3”), finished second in the long jump (17’11.75”) and 100 hurdles (15.75) at the ODAC outdoor championship. She also placed third in the 400 meters (59.30) and sixth in the triple jump, leaping 10.45 meters.

Doornbos also qualified for nationals in the heptathlon (4,562 total points) after her performance at the Asics Liberty Invitational & Multi's. She currently ranks as the fifth seed and will compete at the NCAA Championships on Thursday and Friday in Oshkosh, Wisc.
