W&L Cross Country Competes at Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Washington and Lee men’s and women’s cross country teams were in action on Saturday morning at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. The W&L women finished ninth out of 27 teams, while the men were 16th of 30 teams.

The W&L women were paced by senior Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park), who finished 13th out of 232 runners with a time of 22:14. Senior Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield School) placed 23rd overall with a time of 22:40, while senior Becca Taylor (Hamilton, Ohio/Edgewood) completed the course in 23:14 to place 48th overall.

Senior Michael Welsh (Tullahoma, Tenn./Tullahoma) paced the Washington and Lee men with a 41st place finish out of 271 runners. Welsh completed the course in 25:46. Senior Vance Berry (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Episcopal) finished in 52nd place with a time of 25:54, while senior Alex Jackson (Centreville, Va./Westfield) finished in 88th place, crossing the finish line in 26:26.

The Generals will return to action on Nov. 1 as both teams compete in the ODAC Championships hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College.
