FREE Student Software
The University has negotiated a license for the Microsoft Office suite of programs (PC & Mac) and for Symantec AntiVirus protection (PC & Mac) for every enrolled W&L student. This will save you time, money, and hassle because you do not need to purchase an office productivity suite or antivirus software when you purchase a computer (a potential savings of several hundred dollars, depending on where you might have purchased this software). Please note the following details:
- The Microsoft license is for the newest versions of every Office program in the "Professional" suite (PC & Mac): Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, as well as for upgrades to the Windows operating system. Students enrolled at W&L will be entitled to do all of the following: (a) load these programs on one personally owned computer, (b) replace the respective software with any newer versions that are released during enrollment at W&L, and (c) take the licensed version installed on their computer upon GRADUATION from W&L. The license covers both Windows and Macintosh versions of the software.
- W&L also provides a fully licensed version of Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (PC & Mac), for every enrolled student and will manage the update service to keep virus definitions constantly up to date. Because of this arrangement, ONLY Symantec AntiVirus will be accepted for virus protection on personal computers connected to the W&L network, and every connected computer MUST run it and accept the regular updates. Failure to do so will be grounds for denial of network service in order to protect network resources and other users. This product also covers both Windows and Macintosh systems.
