  • The American Enterprise Institute
    AEI research covers economics and trade; social welfare; government tax, spending, regulatory, and legal policies; U.S. politics; international affairs; and U.S. defense and foreign policies.
  • The Brookings Institution
    The Brookings Institution is an independent, nonpartisan organization devoted to research, analysis, education, and publication focused on public policy issues in the areas of economics, foreign policy, and governance.
  • Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
    The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is a nonpartisan research organization and policy institute that conducts research and analysis on a range of government policies and programs, with an emphasis on those affecting low- and moderate-income people.
  • 2000 Green Book Overview of Entitlement Programs
    The Green Book is compiled by the staff of the Committee on Ways and Means of the U.S. House of Representatives from many sources and it provides program descriptions and historical data on a wide variety of social and economic topics, including Social Security, employment, earnings, welfare, child support, health insurance, the elderly, families with children, poverty and taxation.
  • Northwestern University/University of Chicago Joint Center for Poverty Research
    JCPR concentrates on the causes and consequences of poverty in America and the effectiveness of policies aimed at reducing poverty. The Center's research focuses on: changing labor markets and the causes of inequality in the current labor market; family functioning and the well-being of children; the impact of concentrated urban poverty; and the effects in these domains - and others - of changing policy and new programs.
  • University of Wisconsin Institute for Research on Poverty
    The Institute for Research on Poverty is a national, university-based center for research into the causes and consequences of poverty and social inequality in the United States. It is nonprofit and nonpartisan.
  • The Urban Institute
    The Urban Institute monitors and evaluates the social programs related to persistent domestic problems such as poverty, education finance, unemployment, urban housing shortages and decay, transportation, and welfare reform. The UI also conducts research on taxes and criminal justice, governance in new democracies, advocacy and philanthropy, and health care policy.
