How Do I...?

Put money on my University Card?

In addition to providing dormitory access, the University Card allows students to charge purchases including food and drinks on campus, meals in the Marketplace, copies, laundry and items in the University Store. Money can be added to the card by going to the Business Office or Auxiliary Services. Students may specify by account how much money to apply, and more funds can be added to the card as balances get low. There is a minimum deposit of $25. Each time the card is used for a purchase, the register will display the remaining balance.

Get a safe ride from Traveller?

The Traveller safe ride system carries nearly 2,000 students each week via the Traveller Express, Country Express and Traveller Dispatch services. Operating on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights when classes are in session, Traveller Express picks up students at designated stops marked by black benches every 12 minutes from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Traveller Country Express runs from 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on the same nights. The Traveller Dispatch system provides rides to destinations not on the bus routes or on nights when the Express buses are not running. The Dispatch service is available seven nights a week from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. by calling 540-458-8900.

Register my car with the Public Safety Office?

All Washington and Lee students, subject to certain restrictions, are permitted to own and operate motor vehicles at the University during the academic year. Students must register motor vehicles (including motorcycles and motorbikes) in their possession with the Director of Public Safety at the start of the Fall Term or within four days of acquisition at any later date. Registration may be completed online after reviewing the University's motor vehicle regulations.

Dial into the Internet from off-campus?

Connect97 provides off-campus Internet access through a dial-in connection for students, faculty and staff of Washington and Lee University. This service is intended to be used in conjunction with one's studies or employment at W&L. It is not intended to match or compete with the services offered by regular Internet Services Providers (ISPs). Restrictions apply.

Access my network drives using iStorage?

W&L iStorage provides simple, convenient access to your network drives through a Web browser. You can access the files on your "H" and "L" drives, for example, from anywhere in the world. You can upload, download, copy, move, rename and delete files. Remember, if you are using a dial-up connection, your upload and download speed will not be as fast as when using iStorage on campus or when using a broad-band connection.
