Applying to Study Abroad
Before applying to a study abroad program or university, students must meet with the Study Abroad Advisor to discuss the application and approval process. Please contact Ms. Kip Brooks at kbrooks@wlu.edu to schedule an appointment.
Applying to study abroad is usually a two-step process.
- Students must apply to the Center for International Education for W&L approval of their study abroad plan on-line at go.wlu.edu/studyabroadapplication. Using this site, each student receives individual permission from the appropriate department head or academic dean at W&L for credit for each course taken abroad, approval from his/her Faculty Advisor, and approval from the Center for International Education for the program. The deadlines for applying to W&L for study abroad are as follows:
For Fall Term and Full Year study, the application deadline is
March 20.
For Winter Term study, the application deadline is
October 20.
Fornon W&L Spring Term study, the application deadline is
February 1.
For Summer Term study, the application deadline is
March 1.
Please note: if the deadline falls on a week end, the application is due on the last business day before the deadline

- Each student must also apply for admission to the sponsoring study abroad institution or program, by the program's stated deadline.
