International House
The goal of this University-owned theme house is to provide a student- and service-oriented global center that will provide a focus for internationalism, a locale for increased cross-cultural engagement, and a visible home for service activity.
Eligibility:
- Active participation in SAIL (or another organization promoting international learning)in addition to an interest in service-learning OR active participation in service learning with an interest in international learning
- No GPA requirement at this time
Expectation of Residents:
- Participate/help organize at least one international-based program each month
- Participate/help organize at least one service-based program each month
- Treat other residents with respect, commit to a house culture of learning from one another
- No smoking in residence
- Adhere to the University Housing Alcohol Policy
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of public spaces, including the kitchen
- Sign a housing contract agreeing to the above terms
Selection Process:
- Applications are available on the International Education Website, the Campus Kitchen Website, and the Residential Life Website. Applications are due to the International Education office OR Commons 215 by Monday February 21st.
- A review committee of faculty and students may be involved in the selection of residents. Offers to selected residents will be made by e-mail Monday February 28th. Confirmations need to be received by Friday, March 4th.
- Once you have been accepted and have confirmed to live in the International House for 2011-2012 you must go to the Dean of Students office to complete a housing preference form and pay a housing deposit to the Dean of Students' office by March 4 in order to hold your place.
