The International House is a University-owned and maintained theme house where students can broaden their international learning experience and global perspective. The mission of the house is:
“to facilitate interaction and communication between students and members of the W&L community who express an interest in international learning. Students living in the house, both American and international are expected to participate in house-sponsored activities and remain active in promoting international learning.”
The International House helps Washington and Lee University extend the university’s mission to internationalize the campus and also promotes the understanding of peoples from around the globe.
Eligibility
*Students must be interested in promoting and participating in international learning and intercultural awareness both within and outside of the Washington and Lee community. Preference will be given to those who are active members of SAIL and to those who have promoted or participated in international learning within and/or outside of the Washington and Lee community. In addition, preference will be given to those who are currently freshmen and sophomores.
*There is no GPA requirement.
Expectations of Residents of the International House
All International House residents will be required to sign a separate International House contract. If a student does not abide by the house rules in the contract, he/she will be required to leave the theme housing and will be transferred to other upper class residential housing.
Application and Selection Process
There will be no priority given to those who have previously lived in the House.
