The Human Resources Office has coordinated many training opportunities for employees between now and June. Training sessions for the month of February 2007 are listed below.

With your supervisor's approval, please email reservation to HRTrainingCalendar@wlu.edu., including your name and department, name of program, date and time of preferred session. Reservations must be received by 5:00 PM two days prior to the training session. Your registration will be confirmed via email prior to the session. Seating is limited so reserve your space early.

Please share these training opportunities with employees in your department who do not regularly use email.

New Employee Orientation, February 5 & 19, Elrod 345, 8:30-4:00. New employees welcome. This program is designed for new employees and faculty, and includes information on W&L history, workplace, policies and procedures, and the employee handbook. (Human Resources)

Performance Development, (Repeat) February 6, Elrod 345, 10:00- 12:00. This program will review the performance appraisal process, skills for improving communication between manager and employee, ongoing documentation and feedback. (Human Resources)

Brown Bag Lunch, February 8, Chavis Boardroom 12:00-1:00. Heart Healthy Program to celebrate National Heart Month. (Human Resources)

Computing at W & L, (Repeat) February 13, Northen Auditorium, 2:00- 3:30. This program is an introduction to computing at W&L, including network login, e-mail basics, network drives, and whom to call for help. (University Computing)

Web Services - My budget, (Repeat) February 15, Elrod 345, 10:00- 11:00. This program is designed for individuals responsible for a budget or other special accounts. Participants will learn how to track revenues and expenses related to accounts, learn meanings of reference numbers, and increase their understanding of transactions in budget or other accounts. Let's Talk about Diversity, (Repeat) February 21, Theater, 10:00- 11:00. The concept and implications posed by diversity are important not only to employers, but to all of us as contributing members of society. Therefore, the importance of diversity, and the need to talk about it, is supported by a number of different reasons. This workshop will explore some of those reasons consistent with the University's position on diversity. (Human Resources)

Element K, (Repeat) February 22, Leyburn 301, 1:00-2:00. This program is developed for all employees interested in learning how to build technology skills essential to job performance, through tutorials on Windows and Macintosh software. (University Computing)
