Exit Interviews

TO: ALL EMPLOYEES
FROM: STEVE MCCLURE, DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
RE: EXIT INTERVIEWS
DATE: 4/3/2007

For the past two years, the Human Resources Office has taken on a number of initiatives to help improve University operations and employee morale. During this period, we have conducted an online training needs assessment, on open forum, a campus update, employee training and development activities, improved our benefit offerings, conducted salary surveys, stressed open communication between supervisors and employees, implemented an automated hiring management solution and developed a new employee orientation program, and refined the performance review process.

More recently, HR has begun to conduct exit interviews with individuals who voluntarily separate employment from the University. The exit interview is comprised of 18 questions that address department operations, supervision, professional development, policies and procedures, views on compensation and benefits, morale, and reasons why employees leave the University. The interview meeting usually takes place during the last two days of employment and is administered by the HR Representative assigned to the exiting employee's department. As more interviews are conducted and analyzed, we will be able to point to common trends or themes that will be helpful as we continue to look for ways to make the W&L work experience mutually beneficial to all.

We continue to appreciate all your support. Should you have comments or suggestions for further improvements, please do not hesitate to contact your HR Representative or Steve McClure at 8922.
