Oral Presentations

For an oral presentation, you should bring the assignment and any relevant materials (outline, notes, speech draft, slide deck, etc.) and meet the consultant in the CommCenter (Huntley 118). The consultant and the student will discuss the presentation's strengths and weaknesses. If a student wishes to practice the presentation with slides, the CommCenter Practice Room will be available.  Sessions are scheduled in 30-minute blocks and vary depending on the needs of the student and the nature of the project.  They may cover any or all of the following areas:

  • Thesis and purpose
  • Organization
  • Logical flow
  • Support for and development of ideas
  • Use of sources
  • Physical Delivery
  • Vocal Delivery
