"Interning and Volunteering in Lexington - the Importance of Community Engagement and Service Learning" (panel)

This lightning round panel discussion will share the participants' experiences interning with and volunteering for community organizations in Lexington and Rockbridge such as Shepard partners, ESOL, United Way, the CBL office, and the law clinic. We aim to showcase students' previous work, demonstrate the impact and benefit of community engagement, and spark a greater conversation about the importance of community based activities. Potential discussion questions include, Why is it important to know about the places in which we live? Why should we be invested and involved in these communities? What can that look like? When it takes the form of volunteer work, why do we give our time and financial resources? How does this develop us personally? How does it develop our communities?
