Application Process

Washington and Lee students interested in applying for the Elrod Fellowship should arrange a meeting with Wendy Lovell and complete the application to be considered for a fellowship position. Interviews with Washington and Lee staff and alumni coordinators will take place in person, via telephone and Skype on Nov. 12, 2013, and Feb. 4, 2014. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; however, if you wish to take part in formal interviews on Nov. 12, please submit your application by Nov. 1, 2013, or no later than Jan. 24, 2014, if you wish to take part in formal interviews on Feb. 4, 2014.

  • Completed application form
  • One-page essay
  • Resume
  • Course history and cumulative GPA
  • Two letters of reference
