Vivien Leigh: The Last Press Conference
Featuring Betty Kahn Taylor
Played by Betty Kahn Taylor, Vivien Leigh, the legendary star of Gone with the Wind, A Streetcar Named Desire and many others, is presented here in what might have been her final press conference. Answering candid questions about her lengthy stage career, including productions with her husband Laurence Olivier, this enchanting and often frightening memoir takes the audience through the highs and lows of the actress's frequently turbulent life. "A courageous, funny and frank performer who continues to fascinate."
Betty Kahn Taylor came to Lexington with her husband Lee and their family in the mid-1960s, when Lee accepted the position of Professor Kahn in Washington and Lee's Drama Department. As W&L was all-male, Taylor became a major fixture on the Troubadour Stage, including her memorable performance as Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire. Taylor, however, never saw Vivien Leigh's performance in the film until after W&L's production had closed.
