Women and Girl's Day Tea

The W&L Chanoyu Tea Society will be hosting a Women and Girl’s Day tea ceremony, Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Japanese Tea Room, Senshin’an. There will be three seatings: 1:30, 2:00 and 2:30. Tickets are free and available from March 1st at the Reeves Center.

Mr. Toshio OHI to speak at W&L

Mr. Toshio OHI, 11th-generation descendant of the illustrious Ohi family of potters in the city of Kanazawa, will be giving a talk at Washington and Lee University on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10 am-11 am in Northen Auditorium of Leyburn Library. The title of his talk is The Cultural Importance of the Tea Bowl, A Venerated Tradition in Japan.

Alumni Children’s Tea Ceremony Sessions

Children of Alumni, please join us Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Senshin’an Tearoom in the Watson Pavilion for a session on the Japanese Tea Ceremony: 10:00 am, 10:30 am, 11:00 am. These will be 30-minute sessions specifically designed for children to learn and participate in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

W&L Chanoyu Tea Society hosts Women and Girl's Day Tea

Observe a traditional Tea Ceremony by W&L students and enjoy sweets and a bowl of green tea. Saturday, March 7, 2015; three seatings of 2:00,2:30 and 3:00. Tickets for this event are free, but required. Free tickets must be picked up at the Reeves Center between 9-4, Monday through Friday.

Come by the Senshin'an Tea Room in the Watson Pavilion for a quick study break and a hot bowl of Japanese green tea, Sunday, December 14, 2014, 7-8:30 pm.

Public Japanese Tea Ceremony Demonstrations

The Japanese Tea Room, Senshin'an, in the Watson Pavilion will be hosting an open house on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 2:00pm-3:30pm. Students will be doing tea ceremony demonstrations on the half hour. This event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Janet Ikeda, ikedaj@wlu.edu

Come celebrate St. Patrick's Day with some green tea, Japanese sweets, and a performance of the Japanese Tea Ceremony on Saturday, March 15, 2014, beginning at 2:00pm
