Federal Loan Processing

Any law student who submits a valid FAFSA will be offered federal loans to cover the full cost of attendance minus any other aid. Students are not required to accept offered loans and can also apply for non-federal private loans outside the university. Federal student loans are held in the student's name and are paid back to the Department of Education. All federal loans will be applied to the student account balance once the loan is accepted on the Financial Aid Portal. Required documents for processing and disbursing student loans are listed in "Items Requiring Your Attention" on the Financial Aid Portal once the loan(s) have been accepted. For more information on federal or private student loans see "A Guide to Student Loans" or visit our FAQ page. Do you need to figure out how much to borrow? The Law Student Budget Worksheet may help.
