Faculty Grants Support

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) assists faculty members in pre- and post-award activities including identifying and obtaining external grants and fellowships. CFR supports faculty by providing information on funding resources, clarifying grant guidelines, reviewing proposal drafts, supporting preparation of budgets, facilitating institutional approvals prior to submission, and submitting grant proposals. In addition, CFR supports reporting/closeout guidance for awarded projects. The office also leads grants-related training and information sessions designed to improve grants seeking knowledge and works with awardees to share knowledge of grants-funded projects with the W&L community. We are located in the Office of University Development, 101 N. Jefferson St.

The office has put together a Grant Manual to help faculty with the grant process. In addition to reviewing the manual, please contact CFR to:

  • Schedule a consultation to lay the groundwork for collaboration
  • Guide you through the proposal process
  • Discuss potential projects and determine proposal readiness
  • Provide input on your communication preferences
  • Tell us how CFR can help you

Grants Development: Workshops and Guidance

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations offers periodic workshops on techniques and resources for crafting competitive applications and other valuable practices. Workshops are scheduled throughout the year and are announced in Campus Notices and generally a part of Fall and Winter Academies. If you would like to attend a workshop or have a topic to suggest, please contact Wendy Lovell (x8415; wwlovell@wlu.edu) or Leslie Dixon (x8421; ldixon@wlu.edu).

Policies and Required Forms

The university requires several official W&L forms for proposal submission. Required forms, training, and approvals vary depending on the type of research and the organization funding the project. Please review these policies and forms early in the process to avoid delays.
