CCC Campus Community Coalition

The primary purpose of the Campus Community Coalition is to improve the relationship between the Washington and Lee student body and the Lexington community. We attempt to do this by organizing trash pickups in neighborhoods where our party houses are located, facilitating open discussions with Lexington residents about concerns or complains regarding the students of Washington and Lee, and proactively addressing these issues that are brought to our attention.

I. Mission Statement

II. Requirements for Membership

We strive to have as many members as possible so that our mission is widely broadcast. Therefore, in order to be a part of the Campus Community Coalition, members must only have a positive attitude and a willingness to help improve our relationship with the local community.

III. How We Benefit the Washington and Lee Community

We improve the Washington and Lee community by improving our relationship with the Lexington community. In this way, we offer students the opportunity to give back to Lexington. Since the CCC was founded, both the amount of trash surrounding our party houses and the number of noise complaints related to Washington and Lee parties have reduced significantly. That said, we continue to look for new ways to improve our relations with the local community and to build upon proven ones.

IV. Organization of Leadership

There are several members who provide invaluable contributions to our efforts, but we have two or three official chairs each year. The chairs organize our club meetings and trash pickups, run the new member recruitment process, and communicate with the administration in matters regarding CCC. Rising seniors who have been a member of CCC for an extended period of time and displayed the greatest commitment are elected to serve as chairs each spring.
