Joe Bunts plays double bass in several symphonies, large scale choral music concerts, big band and combo jazz, and musical theater throughout central Virginia. He completed his BA in music at Bradley University, where he also was a section member of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. He has studied bass with Norb Cieslewicz (1976-1981) and Sam Cross (1985-1987) and Master classes with Ed Krolick, Gary Karr, Warren Benfield and Collins Trier. By day an Information Technologies consultant in Charlottesville, Bunt trades in his laptop for his bass in the evenings, helping him utilize both hemispheres of his brain. It is possible to work to live and live to make music, regardless of your occupation--music is great at reducing stress.
