Washington and Lee University Undergraduate Career Development is committed to maintaining good practices to protect the privacy of our students', alumni's, and alumnae's (collectively, "users") personal information. The Undergraduate Career Development operates computer systems that are maintained by University Computing. We also partner with external organizations, such as NACELink, for our job postings and on-campus interviewing services. Information collected by W&L LexLink is only accessible to the Undergraduate Career Development staff and is used to provide career services for users. This information is also used to construct reports that assist us in program planning and/or troubleshooting. Any information shared with third parties is only shared in aggregate form.
Collection and access to student information is governed by federal law under the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as well as by the University's Student Education Records Policy.
W&L JobLink is Career Services' online system for job listings, on-campus interviewing, and career events. These services are provided through NACELink. NACELink is an alliance of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a nonprofit professional organization for career centers and employers; the Direct Employers Association, a nonprofit association of national employers; and Symplicity Corporation, a state-of-the-art technology provider of web-based tools and software solutions.
Any data collected through W&L LexLink that is stored by the University is stored on a secure server. W&L JobLink uses "cookies," and may collect some system information such as IP address and browser version.
Jobs, internships, and externships posted in the W&L LexLink/NACELink system may or may not be reviewed before posting. Users are urged to validate job postings and use caution and common sense when applying. The Undergraduate Career Development staff strongly advises users to not disclose social security numbers, credit card information, or bank account numbers to unknown employers. Washington and Lee University and the Undergraduate Career Development cannot be held responsible and/or liable for any damages, real or imagined, past, present, or future, from the information contained in or requested by the job postings.
Washington and Lee University reserves the right to change this Privacy Statement at any time by posting a revised policy on the Undergraduate Career Development website, which shall become effective immediately.
