Lorri Olan joined Career Development in August 2013 as a career counselor and liaison to the Williams School where she helps all students develop job search and professional development skills. Lorri assists students from all majors with all phases of career development, from self-assessment and career exploration, to preparing application materials and interviewing. Lorri also advises students interested in attending law school. Prior to joining Career Development, she served as Director of Career Planning and Professional Development at W&L Law for six years and lived in Florence, Italy in 2006-2007 with her family. Lorri served as a permanent clerk for two judges on the Court of Appeals of Virginia, as Executive Director of Project Horizon, a rural domestic violence and sexual assault agency, as a trial court law clerk in Boston and as a Legal Assistant in New York City. Lorri is admitted to the bar in NY, MA and VA and is MBTI and Strong certified.
A native of New York City, Lorri obtained her JD from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, MA and her BA from Oberlin College. She was recently named co-chair of W&L’s GLBT Advisory Board and is a member of Oberlin's Alumni Career Committee. Lorri has presented at national conferences (for NALP and Equal Justice Works) and published several articles on working with GLBT students as well as those interested in public interest and clerking. Lorri and her husband, George Bent, live in Lexington and have three children.
