Academic Help Centers

The Information Desk

The University Library and the ITS Help Desk have integrated their services and share the centrally located Information Desk on the main floor of Leyburn Library. From this desk, they deliver many services, including:

The Math Center

The Math Center provides a supportive learning environment for those W&L students seeking help in lower-level mathematics courses, particularly Calculus. It is open Sunday - Thursday evenings, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and is run largely by students for students. The mathematics tutors who operate the center are selected and trained by mathematics faculty at the beginning of the academic year.

Tucker Multimedia Center

The Tucker Multimedia Center (TMC) is located on the top floor of Tucker Hall. It supplies advanced methodologies with the support of technological tools to its users in the teaching and learning of foreign languages, as well as in areas unique to the humanities.

The Williams School Communication Center

For students enrolled in Williams School classes, the Williams School Communication Center provides access to professional writing consultants versed in the particular details of writing within the disciplines of accounting, business, economics, and politics.

The Writing Center

Located on the main floor or Leyburn Library, the Writing Center offers individual tutorial assistance to students on any college writing task, from papers and lab reports in any stage of completion. Directed by the coordinator of the Writing Program, the Center is staffed by upperclass students in various major fields chosen for their superior writing and teaching abilities.
