Accreditation

Washington and Lee University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Juris Doctor, and Master of Laws. W&L is also accredited by AACSB International (the association for management education) and the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. The School of Law is a member of the Association of American Law Schools and is approved by the American Bar Association while the Department of Chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society. Additionally, the Rockbridge Teacher Education Consortium, which represents a collaboration between Washington and Lee University and Southern Virginia University, is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) and approved by the Virginia Department of Education to offer course work that leads to certification in Teacher Education.
