The biggest change Mary Elizabeth Bush will face in attending W&L? "It was much colder than I was used to at home, but the snow on the ground made everything look picturesque," she said. Mary Elizabeth makes the move to Lexington from Pensacola, Fla. where she attended Pensacola High School. She wants to major in biology and become a genetic consultant but intends to take full advantage of the liberal arts at W&L. She thinks of herself as a "fun nerd" because she "enjoys spending time with friends just as much as volunteering or studying." At home, Mary Elizabeth created a teen section in her local thrift store to make "trendy clothing available to everyone in [her] community and encourage textile recycling." It is these innovative ideas and her leadership potential that make Mary Elizabeth a Johnson Scholar.
