

Washington and Lee University was the co-sponsor of a panel discussion on political partisanship moderated by Edward Wasserman, Knight Professor of Journalism Ethics at W&L, and featuring four distinguished academics and journalists. The program, "Party Animals: Is Political Partisanship Obama's Problem or Solution?" was held at the Miller Center for Public Affairs at the University of Virginia on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009.
The panelists were E.J. Dionne, professor at Georgetown University, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Washington Post columnist; Elane Kamarck, former senior advisor to Vice President Al Gore and lecturer in public policy at Harvard University's Kennedy School; William Kristol, editor and publisher of the Weekly Standard; and Sidney M. Milkis, White Burkett Miller Professor of Politics and Assistant Director for Academic Programs at the Miller Center.
In addition to W&L, the program was sponsored by the Miller Center and the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
