

Michael Smitka, professor of economics at Washington and Lee University, discussed the current crisis in the automobile industry on Washington's WTOP on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
The interview with Smitka focused on various strategies that have been proposed in response to problems that the American auto industry is currently confronting in the face of the economic downturn. Among those strategies is a proposal known as "cash for clunkers," which is design to improve trade-in values.
